Signing Day is here! Over the course of the day, several recruits will be making their decisions about where they will attend college and play football. Several players have both the Bruins and Trojans as possible destinations. Here is a look at who is in play, when they will announce, and where they may go.
#4 OT – 5* – Kyle Murphy
San Clemente HS, San Clemente, California
The 6-7, 268 pound tackle from San Clemente has long been considered a Stanford lean. However, Murphy’s trip to USC on the 20th may have helped sway him to pledge to the Trojans. Murphy will announce at a high school ceremony on Wednesday at 1:15 PM. You can follow Kyle’s announcement through Scout reporter Annabel Stephen’s Twitter. (@AnnabelStephen)
Finalists: Stanford, USC
#5 WR – 5* – Bryce Treggs
St. John Bosco HS, Bellflower, California
If you have been tracking the recruitment of Treggs you understand just how much he loves Cal. But sources say that he may be leaning against his heart, and thinking with his head that UCLA may be the place for him. Then came an offer from USC, which only complicates things for the West’s top receiver. Treggs decision will be streamed live on FoxSportsWest.com and seen on Fox Sports Prime Ticket. The program will go from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
Finalists: California, UCLA, USC
#9 OT – 4* – Andrus Peat
Corona del Sol HS, Tempe, Arizona
Peat took two early trips in November to Stanford and Nebraska before finally visiting the Trojans on January 13th. Peat’s brother plays for Nebraska, which has to make them the front runner. Stanford lines up as the second school in line with the Trojans in third. Could the name that is USC be enough to climb the mountain? Peat will announce at 10:35 a.m. on ESPNU. Scout’s Jason Jewell will be on hand to provide the play-by-play. (@jason247scout)
Finalists: Nebraska, Stanford, USC
#10 WR – 4* – Darreus Rogers
Carson Senior HS, Carson, California
A dynamic wide receiver is Rogers, who is listed as a soft verbal to USC with high interest in Arizona State. He first visited the Trojans on the 13th before tripping to Tempe to see the Sun Devils on the 20th. Sources say that while once a certainty to attend USC, Rogers has been swayed by a very strong push late in the game by Arizona State. Rogers will make his decision on FoxSportsWest.com and Fox Sports Prime Ticket from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
Finalists: USC, Arizona State
#14 DT – 4* – Aziz Shittu
Buhach County HS, Atwater, California
Perhaps the most confusing of the recruits pledging today is Aziz Shittu, a tackle from Buhach County high school, yet perhaps the most underrated player. Shittu is tied to both of the bay schools, while still mentioning the Bruins and Trojans from time-to-time on Twitter. If visit timing means anything, his final two visits were to USC and UCLA respectively. Shittu has said that comfort and feel would be the determinant in his decision. He will decide at 2:00 p.m. at his high school.
Finalists: Stanford, California, UCLA, USC
#27 OLB – 4* – Seth Jacobs
Arroyo Grande HS, Arroyo Grande, California
The extremely versatile athlete also plays safety, quarterback, and wide receiver. His trip to Westwood this past weekend really opened his eyes, perhaps enough to convince him to become a Bruin. The thought is that Jacobs is still leaning to Oklahoma State, but might be more intrigued in what the new Bruin coaching staff has to offer, alongside immediate playing time. Still, the Cowboys are considered the leaders. Jacobs will be announcing at 6:00 p.m.
Finalists: Oklahoma State, UCLA, Colorado, Arkansas
#25 CB – 4* – Randall Goforth
Polytechnic HS, Long Beach, California
Goforth can also play wide receiver, and likely will see time at both positions at the next level. Randall is one of a few prospects that de-commited from Arizona State when coach Noel Mazzone left the Sun Devils program to become the offensive coordinator at UCLA. Many Bruin fans have felt that he might be a certainty in Westwood, but much has been quiet. Goforth will announce live on FoxSportsWest.com and on Fox Sports Prime Ticket from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
Finalists: Arizona State, UCLA, Washington
#80 CB – 3* – Bryan Harper
Colony HS, Ontario, California
Harper and the Bruins had a terrible miscommunication on the weekend of January 20th when several other recruits were in town. The Bruins thought Harper was on a trip to Oregon when in fact it would not take place until the following week. The result was the Ducks making up major ground against the Bruins, who were long considered to be the favorites. Harper will announce on FoxSportsWest.com and on Fox Sports Prime Ticket from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
Finalists: Oregon, UCLA, Arizona
#53 WR – 3* – Javon Williams
Chandler HS, Chandler, Arizona
The decision has already been made by Williams on Monday night. Now for the announcement. Williams says that the chemistry between coaches and players stood out to him for Arkansas. Then he liked how the coaching staff was very up front with their players at UCLA. He liked how the players and coaches got along very well. The reasons both seemed quite similar. It definitely will not hurt that Williams’ former high school quarterback is Bruin Brett Hundley. Williams will announce live on FoxSportsArizona.com at 9:00 a.m.
Finalists: UCLA, Arkansas
There you have it! How many commits will the Bruins and Trojans get? Remember these names as they will be among the stars of college football and eventually the NFL in the years to come. We will have analysis on each school’s final class at the close of signing day.
